Privacy Policy
Type of website: Ecommerce
Effective date: July 8, 2026
1. Purpose
The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to inform visitors and users of www.sunsetfarmfoods.com (the “Site”) of the following:
- The personal data we collect and how it is collected;
- How collected data is used;
- Which third-party services receive data and why;
- How long data is retained; and
- The rights of Site users.
This Privacy Policy applies in addition to the Terms and Conditions of our Site.
2. Consent and Cookie Banner
We use a cookie consent management system on our Site. When you first visit the Site, you will be presented with a cookie consent banner that explains which cookies and third-party scripts are in use. Non-essential scripts will not execute until you have affirmatively accepted them through the consent banner.
Strictly Necessary cookies and security tools (described below) do not require your consent because they are required for the Site to function and to protect against automated abuse. All other optional tracking, if any, requires your prior affirmative consent.
3. Data Collected Automatically
When you visit and use our Site, certain technical information may be collected automatically as part of normal web server operations, including:
- IP address (used for routing and security purposes only; not retained for profiling or advertising);
- Browser type and version;
- Device type and operating system;
- Pages visited and content viewed; and
- Referring website or search term.
This data is used solely for website security, fraud prevention, and anonymous aggregate traffic analysis as described below. It is not used for advertising, behavioral profiling, or cross-site tracking.
4. Data Collected When You Take Action
We collect the following data when you perform specific functions on the Site, such as creating an account or placing an order:
- First and last name;
- Email address;
- Phone number;
- Billing and shipping address; and
- Payment information (processed securely through our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers).
This data is collected through account creation and order placement and is used solely for order fulfillment and customer communication.
5. Website Analytics — WP Statistics
Our Site uses WP Statistics, a privacy-first analytics plugin for WordPress. WP Statistics is designed to provide aggregate, anonymized website traffic data without collecting personal data and without transmitting any data to third-party servers. Specifically:
- WP Statistics does not use cookies or persistent identifiers;
- WP Statistics does not collect or store full IP addresses — IP addresses are anonymized and hashed by default;
- WP Statistics does not track individual visitors across sessions or websites;
- WP Statistics does not transmit any data to external servers — all analytics data is stored exclusively in your own WordPress database on our server;
- WP Statistics does not build advertising profiles or share data with any third party; and
- No consent banner is required for WP Statistics in its default configuration because no personal data is collected or transmitted.
The data collected by WP Statistics consists solely of anonymized, aggregate statistics such as page views, referrer sources, geographic region (country level), device type, and browser type. Because all data is stored locally on our server and no data is transmitted to any third party, WP Statistics does not create any outbound data flows to analytics companies or advertising networks.
WP Statistics is developed by VeronaLabs and is open-source software. It has received Plugin Security Certification (PSC-2025-64573) from CleanTalk confirming its adherence to secure data handling practices. For more information, visit wp-statistics.com.
6. Security Tools — Google reCAPTCHA
Our Site uses Google reCAPTCHA, a security service provided by Google LLC (“Google”), to protect our web forms from spam and automated bot submissions. Google reCAPTCHA is categorized as a Strictly Necessary security tool and operates automatically when you use our contact form, checkout, or account creation forms.
Google reCAPTCHA works by collecting hardware and software information from your device — including your IP address, browser type, device attributes, and behavioral signals from your interaction with the Site — and transmitting that information to Google’s servers for analysis. Google uses this information to determine whether a form submission is made by a human or an automated process.
The use of Google reCAPTCHA is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy) and Google’s Terms of Service (policies.google.com/terms). By using our Site and submitting forms, you acknowledge that your data may be processed by Google for security purposes as described above.
We do not control and are not responsible for Google’s processing of data collected through reCAPTCHA. Google LLC is located at 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
7. Cookies
Our Site uses the following categories of cookies:
Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are required for the Site to function and cannot be disabled. They include:
- WooCommerce session cookies — used to maintain your shopping cart and checkout session;
- WordPress authentication cookies — used to keep you logged in to your account; and
- Security cookies — used in connection with Google reCAPTCHA as described above.
These cookies do not track you for advertising or profiling purposes. They are session-based or short-lived and expire when you close your browser or within a brief period thereafter.
Analytics Cookies
Our Site does not use analytics cookies. Simple Analytics, our analytics provider, operates without cookies entirely. No analytics cookies are set on your device.
Advertising and Marketing Cookies
Our Site does not use advertising cookies, marketing pixels, behavioral tracking scripts, or retargeting technologies. No data is transmitted to advertising networks or used for ad targeting.
8. Third-Party Services That Receive Data
Our Site interacts with the following third-party services that may receive limited data as described in this Policy:
Google LLC (reCAPTCHA) — receives IP address, device attributes, and behavioral signals for security and bot-detection purposes only. Subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.
WP Statistics (VeronaLabs) — our analytics plugin stores anonymized, aggregate traffic data exclusively on our own server. No data is transmitted to VeronaLabs or any third party. WP Statistics has no external data flows.
Payment Processor — if you place an order, payment card data is transmitted directly to our payment processor via encrypted connection. We do not receive or store full payment card numbers.
We do not use Facebook Pixel, Google Ads tags, TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, HubSpot, or any other advertising, email marketing, or behavioral profiling technology on our Site.
9. We Do Not Sell Your Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for commercial purposes. We share limited technical data with Google LLC solely for security purposes (reCAPTCHA) and anonymized aggregate data with Simple Analytics as described in this Policy. We do not share personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing platforms.
We may disclose personal data in the following limited circumstances:
- If required by law or valid legal process;
- To protect our legal rights or defend against legal claims;
- To buyers or potential buyers of our company in connection with a sale or acquisition; and
- To employees or contractors who require access to fulfill orders and provide customer service, subject to confidentiality obligations.
10. How Long We Store Personal Data
Personal data collected through account creation and order placement is retained for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected — primarily order records, customer service history, and legal compliance requirements. Order records may be retained for up to seven (7) years in accordance with standard business recordkeeping practices.
You will be notified if your data is retained beyond the period necessary for its original purpose.
Simple Analytics data is anonymized aggregate data and contains no personal information; it is not subject to a deletion timeline.
11. How We Protect Your Personal Data
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your personal data, including:
- SSL/TLS encryption for all data transmitted between your browser and our Site;
- Secure server infrastructure;
- Access controls limiting data access to authorized employees only; and
- Confidentiality obligations for all employees with access to personal data.
While we take all reasonable precautions to protect your data, no internet transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted over the internet.
12. Children
Our Site is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 years of age. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact our Privacy Officer.
13. Notice to California Residents
If you are a California resident, you have certain rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and related California privacy laws, including:
- The right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, or sell;
- The right to request deletion of your personal information;
- The right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information); and
- The right not to be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact our Privacy Officer using the contact information in Section 15 below. We will respond to verifiable requests within 45 days as required by law.
We do not sell personal information as defined under California law. We do not use cross-context behavioral advertising. Our Site does not deploy advertising tracking technologies.
